MIAMI – Five members of the FIU football team have been selected to the 2024 Conference USA Preseason Watch List, which was announced on Friday.
Sophomore quarterback Keyone Jenkins, sophomore offensive lineman JaDarious Lee, senior linebacker Reggie Peterson, senior defensive lineman Jeramy Passmore and junior return specialist Dean Patterson.
Jenkins threw for a total of 2,414 yards last season as he became the first freshman to start at quarterback for the Panthers since 2014. His yardage total ranked as the six-best total by a freshman in FBS.
Lee was a mainstay on the Panthers’ offensive line as he saw action in 11 games and made a pair of starts.
Peterson put together a tremendous junior campaign which saw him start all 12 games and finish with 104 tackles – which marked the 10th best single season total in program history.
Passmore started 11 games for FIU on the defensive line last season – tallying 26 tackles, four tackles for loss (-26) and 2.5 sacks (-23).
Patterson led Conference USA in punt return average in 2023 in addition to catching 28 passes for 423 yards at receiver.
The Panthers return a total of 17 starters from last season’s squad and open the 2024 season on Saturday, August 31 in a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Indiana which will be aired nationally on the Big Ten Network.
