In a press convention on Tuesday, performing Gotham FC head coach Shaun Harris spoke about veteran defender Emily Sonnett’s situation after leaving the pitch on a stretcher early in Friday’s match in opposition to the Portland Thorns at Windfall Park.
Harris stated that the middle again, who’s a fixture with the U.S. ladies’s nationwide workforce, didn’t journey with Gotham to California for the membership’s match in opposition to Bay FC on Wednesday.
He added, “I think her surgery was this morning or yesterday.”
He didn’t specify what the surgical procedure was for.
“We’re really gutted and devastated that we’re losing such a key player at this moment in the season,” Harris stated. “We wish her all the best.”
